How to make walnut cake brownies

TIP: While the brownies are baking, make the pecan pie. That way, both should be done at the same time.

For brownies:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 ° F and prepare 9 × 13 ″ baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine brownie ingredients in large bowl and mix with electric mixer until well blended.
  3. Pour the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 44-47 minutes or until brownies are ready; Baking times may vary by oven.
  4. Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan until they are cool enough to touch, then transfer them to a cookie sheet.
  5. When your walnut-covered brownie is completely fresh, top it with the pecan pie filling, slice it, and enjoy.

TIP: We use the box mix to save time, but you can also make pecan pie brownies from scratch using our Perfect Fudge Brownies from Scratch recipe. Just be sure to double the recipe because these pecan pie brownies are a bigger batch.

For the pecan pie filling:

  1. Combine filling ingredients EXCEPT walnuts and vanilla in medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring to mix.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and add the walnuts and vanilla, then pour into a large heat-resistant bowl.
  3. Let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes, then move it to the refrigerator for 1 hour.
