American kitchen

The sloppy santa

  • 1 cup of eggnog if you want to make it homemade, see the recipe below
  • 1 and 1/2 ounce brandy
  • 1 ounce of spiced rum
  • whipped cream
  • freshly grated nutmeg

Homemade Egg Nog (this will make 3 servings)

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 3 cups half and half
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • Heat the eggnog in a small saucepan until just simmering. Add the brandy and rum and pour into a cup. Top with the whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg.

  • To make your own eggnog, first mix the egg yolks with the sugar until well combined.

  • Heat half and half and nutmeg in a saucepan until simmering. Add a ladle of the hot liquid to the egg yolks while whisking. Add another ladle, whisking again, and a third, still whisking. Add the yolk mixture to the pan, whisking or stirring constantly over medium heat until it begins to thicken. (Don't let it boil)
