He was frustrated with the store-bought tartar sauce; one disappointing can after another. Solution: homemade tart sauce. Making yours is really easy. It's fresh and surprising for these breaded salmon cakes, fish sticks, or fish fillets.
Look at those fish sticks there, yes, those are from Costco. Maybe someday, I'll make my own fish sticks, but for now, these are really good (the Trident brand). Sometimes I find that I eat more tartar sauce than the fish stick (sounds gross, but this sauce IS GOOD!). This recipe stays fresh in the fridge for a few days.
Ingredients for tartar sauce:
1 cup royal mayonnaise 1 cup finely chopped dill pickles 1 tablespoon dill (fresh or frozen), OR 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion it's good too but optional (I generally skip that)

How to make tartar sauce:
This is really complicated, so pay attention. Are you ready?…1. Combine everything in a bowl and stir well.

- 1 cup of royal mayonnaise

- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion is also good optional
