A few weeks ago I took my children to an Arby’s for lunch. It had been years since he had been there, but he really craved some kinky fries.

After we finished our lunch, my sons begged me for one of their turnovers which they have conveniently shown behind the counter.

Who am I to deny my children a cherry rotation?

After inhaling our turnovers, I started to think …

These are amazing, and probably SUUUUUPER simple to make at home.

I immediately drove to the store and got the 2 ingredients I needed to make them.

All you need is a package of frozen puff pastry, a can of cherry pie filling (other pie fillings would work, too!), And an egg white.

If you want to make the vanilla frosting that goes on top of it (you do, you really do), then you just need a little powdered sugar, milk and a little vanilla extract!

Now when I first made these turnovers, I just closed the seams and hoped for the best.

While the turnovers opened up and plenty of cherry fillings came out, they still tasted amazing.

The second time I brushed the edges of the puff pastry with egg whites, which helped seal them.

That did the trick.

Then I brushed the tops with the same egg whites to give it a nice, flaky top.

While some round out my find, it's out, I think it only adds to the appeal.

I mean … I really want another cherry rotation RIGHT NOW!

I recommend waiting until the turnovers cool down before trying to spray the thick vanilla frosting on top. The heat of turnovers will melt him pretty quickly.

These turnovers taste exactly like Arby's and he couldn't be happier.

They are light, flaky and perfectly sweet.

We had no trouble devouring them. In fact, I plan to make another batch of these this July 4th weekend.

Some with blueberry filling and others with cherry! How cute will those be?

Super Easy Cherry Turnovers

Super Easy Cherry Turnovers is one of the easiest desserts to make and the fastest to fade away.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of puff pastry (found in freezer section), thawed according to package instructions

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten

For the vanilla frosting:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons of milk

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Unwrap the two puff pastry doughs and cut them into 8 squares (4 of each dough).
  3. Place a heaping tablespoon or two of cherry pie filling in the center of each square. Brush the edges of the squares with the egg white and fold to enclose the cake filling.
  4. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 20 to 25 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown.
  5. Let cool on a rack.

To make vanilla frosting:

  1. Combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl and beat until smooth. Pour into a frosting bag or zip closure, then cut off the tip or corner to place the cooled patties. Enjoy!

Notes

You can use any kind of pie filling instead of cherry. Or use a tablespoon of Nutella to get a chocolate makeover!
