Snickerdoodle Latte in a glass mug

I'm a coffee girl. My children know that they shouldn't ask me difficult questions in the morning before I have a cup in my hand. In the summer I go for a cold beer, but in the winter I like my mug warm, sweet and creamy.

I love to play adding different flavors to my coffee. My favorite has become this Snickerdoodle inspired latte. I take the sweet taste of a Snickerdoodle cookie and add it to my coffee. It's delicious! I use a sugar-free sweetener, cinnamon, and a single drop of molasses for a hint of brown sugar flavor.

How to make a low carb coffee with milk?

The real lattes are mostly hot milk with a shot or two of espresso. They are not the best choice in a low carb or Trim Healthy Mama way of eating. By using brewed coffee and half and half (or heavy cream) you can mimic the taste of coffee with milk for a fraction of the carbohydrates.

Is the keto molasses friendly?

If it can be. I don't use molasses for sweetness. I use it for flavor. Using one or two drops of molasses adds about 1 gram of carbohydrates to your latte. If you prefer, you can omit it.

More flavor ideas

Some other flavor options would be adding mint extract to a mint latte. Top with a little whipped cream and crushed unsweetened mint candies for a Christmas treat. Or how about a maple nut latte? Add maple extract, whipped cream, and a pinch of chopped walnuts on top. Or maybe a crispy apple latte? Add apple and cinnamon extract. Yum!

Notes

*** I get a lot of feedback from my low carb readers about using molasses. I use it for a brown sugar flavor, not for sweetness. This recipe uses a drop of molasses that is about 1/4 teaspoon. This has less than 1 gram of carbohydrates from molasses. If you prefer, you can omit it. Notes on sweeteners:
