Slice of tuna curry

  • 440 g canned tuna
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 30 g of butter
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese


  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon of curry powder
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
  • 1 beaten egg


  1. Cook the rice in boiling water until smooth and drain.

  2. Combine the rice with butter, egg, salt and pepper.

  3. Press the rice mixture into the base of a greased rectangular saucepan.

  4. Place the tuna flakes on the rice.

  5. Make a white sauce with the extra butter, flour and milk.

  6. Add mayonnaise and curry powder, and stir until smooth.

  7. Add lemon juice, parsley, and beaten egg and simmer for 1 minute.

  8. Spoon the sauce over the tuna and sprinkle grated cheese on top.

  9. Bake in a moderate oven for 25 minutes.


  • 1 saucepan


Canned salmon can be used instead of tuna. Add more curry if you like as it is very smooth.
