Several slices of pumpkin bread on a cutting board and topped with brown maple butter frosting.

Guys, this pumpkin bun with maple frosting and brown butter is a little irresistible. It is incredibly moist and infused with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. The bread itself is an amazing recipe from my sweet friend Sally at Sally's Baking Addiction.

I put aside the chocolate chips for this pumpkin bread recipe and instead added a simple brown maple butter frosting. Sometimes it's fun to mix things up, you know? And I literally had to avoid eating all the bread. Very delicious!

The BEST Incredibly Moist Pumpkin Bread with a Brown Butter Maple Glaze that will make you pass out with every bite! .wprm -cipe-rating .wprm-rating-star.wprm-rating-star-full svg * {fill: #fff} Course: Breakfast, Dessert, Snack Cuisine: American Preparation time: 10 minutes Cook time: 1 hour 10 minutes Total time: 1 hour 20 minutes Servings: 1 bar Calories: 3786kcal

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packaged
  • 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup of oil (vegetable or canola oil)
  • 1/4 cup milk

For the brown butter maple frosting:

  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of pure maple syrup (not pancake syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons of milk (to dilute the frosting)

Instructions

  • Set oven rack to 3rd lower position and preheat oven to 350 ° F. Spray 9 × 5-inch pan pan with nonstick spray. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  • In a medium bowl, mix eggs, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  • Add the pumpkin, oil and milk and stir to combine. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until combined (do not mix too much).
  • Pour the dough into the prepared bread pan.
  • Bake 55-65 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Check the bread about 3/4 of the way through cooking and place a piece of aluminum foil on top if you feel it is browning too much.
  • Let the bread cool for a few minutes in the pan and then invert it on a wire rack to cool completely.

For the brown butter maple frosting:

  • While the bread cools, prepare the frosting. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Continue cooking, watching the butter carefully and turning it in the pan until it sizzles and begins to turn amber, about 4-5 minutes. Take a close look at it so it doesn't burn!
  • Remove the butter from the heat and pour it into a mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar and maple syrup and beat with electric mixers until smooth.
  • Add a little milk to dilute, if necessary, or a little extra powdered sugar to thicken until a smooth frosting is formed.
  • Place the frosting generously on the pumpkin bun and let it sit. Cut into slices and serve!
