This recipe combines two of our favorite foods: pizza and mushrooms! We've made these pizza stuffed mushrooms several times and can't get enough of them! They're great for parties, goodies, and a quick, low-carb lunch or dinner. We stuff the mushrooms with a combination of pepperoni and sausages (our favorite combination of pizza topping). Feel free to add green bell peppers, onions, olives – whatever you want on your pizza!

The filling for these pizza stuffed mushrooms can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until you are ready to fill and bake the mushrooms. The amount of mushrooms this recipe will make will depend on how big or small your mushroom tops are. I have about 18 stuffed mushrooms. I had some big mushrooms.

Pizza Stuffed Mushroom Recipe

preparation time: 10 minutes cooking time: 15 minutes total time: 25 minutes

Pizza Stuffed Mushrooms: GOOD! Mushroom tapas filled with sausage, pepperoni, pizza sauce, basil, garlic, mozzarella and parmesan. Feel free to add your favorite ingredients. Ready to eat in 15 minutes. Great for parties, tailgating or a low carb lunch or dinner !!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of mushrooms
  • 1/2 lb sausage
  • 1/4 cup pepperoni, chopped
  • 6 tablespoons of pizza sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400┬║F.
  2. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth.
  3. Combine sausage, pepperoni, pizza sauce, basil, garlic, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese in large bowl. Fill each mushroom top with the sausage mix.
  4. Bake 15 to 18 minutes, until fully heated.

NOTES

I used the Jimmy Dean sausage. You can substitute the turkey sausage. Use low-sugar or sugar-free pizza sauce for a low-carb dish.
