The Mixed Berry Smoothie is easy to make, healthy and refreshing, a total triple threat with three types of berries. Prepare this breakfast of champions in just five minutes. Between berries and almond-based ingredients, this stimulating frozen berry smoothie is rich in fiber, antioxidants, proteins, vitamins and minerals. It's a total superfood in a cup!

Ingredients for making mixed berry smoothie

  • Mixed berries: You can use fresh or frozen mixed berries, but I prefer to use frozen as they give the drink a thick, creamy texture without using ice. Berries add a lot of vitamin C to this smoothie recipe.
  • Bananas: Again, you can use fresh or frozen bananas, but it's easier in the blender if not all of the fruit is frozen.
  • Greek yogurt: Add creaminess and a good source of protein to the mixed berry smoothie. But you can substitute more milk or a vegan yogurt if you prefer.
  • Almond butter: This is a great option to add extra fat and fiber to the smoothie. Nut butters can really enrich the nutrition of a smoothie to make them more satiating.
  • Milk: You can use any type of milk you want or you can even use water if you prefer. You only need a little liquid to start the blender.

Ingredients to make the recipe: bananas, berries, milk, Greek yogurt and almond butter.

Put all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Try the smoothie and add more mixed berries if it is too thin or additional milk if it is too thick. You can also add a little sweetener if you prefer it to be sweeter. The recipe is enough for two 12-ounce cups, which is what is shown.

Tips for making this berry smoothie

  1. Use frozen berries to make the smoothie. This eliminates the need for ice that can dilute the drink. It also helps make the mixed berry smoothie smoother and creamier.
  2. Use a high speed blender. There is nothing worse than drinking a smoothie and eating a banana in your mouth. If you don't have a high-speed blender, I recommend shaking it occasionally with a long spoon and mixing for an additional 1 minute.
  3. Use the milk you want in this recipe. I like to use almond milk, but you can use any dairy or plant-based milk you have available.

For the best flavor and color, this smoothie is best enjoyed as soon as it's made. If you can't have it right away, cover it and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

For how long should you mix a smoothie?

Mix all ingredients for about 60 seconds so that all ingredients break and combine well. If you are using a low speed blender, you may need to mix it for an additional minute.

Can you use overripe bananas in this smoothie?

In fact, I prefer to use overripe bananas in smoothies. They have much more sweetness and natural flavor, in addition to being richer in antioxidants than only the mature ones. I often freeze overripe bananas to be ready for smoothies!

  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries

  • 2 bananas

  • ¼ cup of Greek yogurt

  • 2 tablespoons of almond butter

  • 2 cups almond milk


  • Put all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend for 60-120 seconds until smooth and creamy in texture.

  • Try the smoothie, add more milk if it is too thick, or add more sweetener if it is not sweet enough for you. Pour into a mug or mason jar. Enjoy it immediately or keep it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.


Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight mason jar. It will stay fresh for up to 24 hours. But ideally, it is better to consume immediately after making Substitutes: For best results, follow the recipe as is. However, here are some common substitutes that would work well in this recipe.

  • Instead of almond milk, you can use any other plant-based milk to keep this vegan, or use regular or 2% milk
