Milo Pancakes

  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup of milo
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 20 g of melted butter
  • 1 1/3 cups flour with yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 sprinkle Milo * to serve * extra
  • 1 sprinkle white sugar * to serve * extra
  • 1 tub of vanilla ice cream * to serve * optional
  • 1 knob of butter * extra


  1. Place the water, Milo, sugar and butter in a heat resistant container. Stir to dissolve the butter. Cool slightly.

  2. Whisk together the flour and baking soda in a bowl. Make a well in the center and add the mixture of egg, milk and Milo, and beat until smooth and well combined.

  3. Heat a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Brush with the extra butter. Pour three 1ā„4 cups of dough into the pan and cook for 2 minutes or until bubbles appear on the surface. Turn pancakes over and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until crisp and golden brown. Transfer to a plate and lightly cover with aluminum foil to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining pancake batter to make 10 pancakes.

  4. Serve the pile sprinkled with extra sugar, extra Milo and ice cream.
