I decided it would be fun to make our own pizza. Our normal order for pizza delivery has become really expensive. So, I picked up some of the Pillsbury refrigerated pizza dough to try. It is actually very good! We may have to try making our own dough soon, but this has set the bar quite high, so we'll have to see how it works. It was a great pizza for $ 3.32. It was actually fun for everyone to help and now everyone wants to try their hand at creating their own pizza masterpiece. So we'll probably do this every Friday for a while. So check every Friday and see what new creations we can think of.

This is my recipe and I think it works quite well. I have also added the recipe card at the end of the post. Ingredients for pizza:

1 PillsburyThin Crust Pizza Crust ($ 1.99 from recent Kroger deal) 1 cup pizza sauce (see recipe below) 1.5 oz Pepperoni Hormel ($ 0.25 deal at Dollar Tree) 6oz Kraft grated mozzarella cheese ($ 0.90 from Remke's previous agreement)

Ingredients for pizza sauce: 2 14.5 oz cans of crushed red gold tomatoes ($ 0.18 from previous Kroger settlement) 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1/2 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon sugar 1 tablespoon corn syrup 1 teaspoon dried oregano 2 teaspoons dried basil

We make the pizza sauce by placing all the ingredients in the food processor and mashing together. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and simmer for 30-45 minutes over medium heat or until desired thickness is obtained. There is enough sauce for various pizzas (depending on how much you use), so refrigerate or freeze the remaining sauce depending on how soon you are going to use it. This sauce is a bit sweet (kind of like LaRosa's).

Follow the directions and spread the crust on a 10×15 non-stick baking sheet. The instructions say to grease it first, but I was using one of my new Bakers Secret pans that we got SUPER CHEAP at Kroger. So I didn't and it turned out fine. You must pre-bake the crust at 400┬║C for approximately 10 minutes before adding the ingredients. This is because oven temperatures in a home oven do not heat up as much as a pizza oven and the dough does not cook properly.

After finishing pre-cooking, spread the sauce to cover the bottom. Add cheese making sure to bring it to the edge of the crust. Add the pepperoni making sure to coat evenly. Then sprinkle a little cheese on the pepperoni to prevent burning.

Sprinkle with a little oregano and staple and return to the oven for about 10 more minutes or until done.

Like I said, it really worked out and went FAST! I guess I better plan on doing some every Friday.
