Lemon buttermilk cake

  • 250 g of butter
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 separate eggs
  • 2 cups of flour with yeast
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Lemon syrup

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water


  1. Lightly grease and flour a 20 cm round frying pan.

  2. Butter cream, lemon peel and sugar.

  3. Beat the egg yolks one at a time until combined.

  4. Add half the sifted flour and half the buttermilk.

  5. Add the remaining flour and buttermilk.

  6. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then slightly fold in the cake mix.

  7. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake at 180 ° C for one hour.

  8. Pour hot lemon syrup over the hot cake.


This cake holds up very well.
