Today I show you how to make the BEST baked oatmeal. This is our family's all-time favorite oatmeal recipe and we've made it so many times over the years that I've lost count.

Baked oatmeal

My oldest son, Sam, has been preparing breakfast alone for several years. Although I occasionally miss baby days, there's nothing like having kids old enough to have a hot breakfast at the table without any help!

My family has a well-known love story with oatmeal. We'll happily eat slow-cooked oats on the stove, slow-cooked on the slow cooker, baked on granola, cookies, and breads.

We like oatmeal in all the ways and ways it can be served. Muesli-style oatmeal, walnut kernels, rich, creamy oatmeal with sweet bites of fruit and melted brown sugar, baked chewy oatmeal combinations; I doubt that I will ever turn down a warm oatmeal cookie.

How to make perfect baked oats

  1. Preheat oven to 350 ┬░ F. Grease 10-inch skillet with butter or top with cooking spray. Combine oatmeal, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Stir to combine. Add oil, eggs and milk and stir to combine. Add the raisins and stir once more.
  2. Place the oatmeal mixture in the greased pan and bake for 30 minutes. Oatmeal should be slightly browned, slightly crisp on top and around the edges. An inserted knife will come out mostly clean with damp crumbs. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Cut into portions or tablespoons with a spoon. Enjoy!

Freezer Food Instructions: Let the oatmeal cool completely and then cut it into portions. Store oatmeal in freezer-tight bags or containers. Reheat in the microwave with a tablespoon of water.

  • 3 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup lightly flavored olive oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup raisins or raisins optional
