- 1 package of block tofu (250-300 grams)
- 6 tablespoons of wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoonful of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons of brewer's yeast
- 1 teaspoonful of Dijón mustard
- 0.12 cup of water
- ⅓ beets or beets
Steps to follow to make this recipe: 1
Cut the tofu and the beets in small cubes.
Put the tofu and the beets in the glass of the mixer or a kitchen robot and mash them, adding the water little by little until a homogeneous mass is formed without lumps of intense pink color.
Add the salt, garlic, onion powder, brewer's yeast, flour, cornstarch, and mustard. Mix well first with a spoon and then continue grinding in the mixer until all the ingredients of the homemade vegetarian tofu sausages are well incorporated. Let the dough cool in the fridge about 20 minutes.
Transfer the tofu sausage dough to a pastry bag, cut the tip of the sleeve depending on the thickness of the sausages you want to get.
Trick: It is best to make a hole not too big.
Cut rectangular sheets of transparent film approximately 15 centimeters wide. On one edge of each sheet along the length place a thick line of tofu dough 10-15 centimeters long carefully squeezing the pastry bag.
Carefully roll up the film and close the edges like a caramel making sure that no filling comes out, thus forming the tofu sausages. The dough yields about 8 or 10 units.
Trick: If any bubbles appear on the surface of the sausages puncture them with a needle.
Heat a pot with plenty of water. When the water starts to boil put the homemade vegan sausages in the pot. When the water boils again, let the sausages cook for 40 minutes with the lid of the pot interlaced.
After the cooking time, turn off the heat and allow the vegetarian tofu sausages to cool inside the pot. Then put them in a container and keep them in the fridge for several hours to make them harder.
Now the homemade tofu sausages they are ready to cook or use in other preparations. Do not forget to remove the transparent film before cooking.
