- 1 packet of wafers
- 1 can of bonito
- 1 boiled egg
- 1 pot of fried tomato

We prepare the ingredients to make the bonito empanadas faster. Then, we put a casserole with plenty of water and we cook the eggs (1-2) for 10 minutes from when they start to boil. We will let them cool down.
We peel the hard-boiled eggs and we chop them in Little pieces.
To continue with the stuffing the bonito dumplingsIn a bowl, put the chopped hard-boiled egg, the drained can of bonito and a good stream of fried tomato.
We remove everything and we add more tomato to taste, or any other ingredient, such as chopped onion, chopped garlic, chopped peppers …, the possibilities are endless!
We spread the wafers and in each one we put a tablespoon of filling.
We close the bonito and egg dumplings and, with the help of a fork, we seal the edges of each of them.
We put a frying pan with the glass of oil to heat and, when it is hot, fry the homemade bonito empanadas carefully, as they will brown immediately. If we prefer, we can make the bonito dumplings in the oven, placing them on a tray lined with baking paper and cooking at 180 ºC until golden.
We can already serve the fried bonito dumplings! We put them on a plate and accompany them with other appetizers, such as garlic potatoes and fish croquettes. Homemade pastry dough
If you prefer to make 100% homemade dumplings, that is, preparing your own dough for dumplings, here is a simple recipe:
- 500 g of wheat flour
- half a tablespoon of sugar
- half a tablespoon of salt
- 40 g of butter
- 235 ml of water
- Melt the butter and heat the water.
- Mix the sifted flour with the sugar and salt.
- Form a volcano with the flour and put the butter and water into the hole.
- Knead until all the ingredients are integrated and obtain a consistent dough.
- Let it sit for about half an hour.

How to make baked dumplings of bonito
As we have already indicated in step 7 of the recipe, there is also the option of cooking the bonito empanadas in the oven, thus reducing the number of total calories. By removing the oil used for frying, the dumplings become much healthier, since the main fat contribution comes from this extra oil.
To make the breaded bonito dumplings, preheat it at 180 ºC, with heat up and down or the fan function if you have it. Once hot, put the dumplings distributed on a baking sheet lined with paper (previously greased with a little oil so they do not stick) and bake for 20-30 minutes approximately. Depending on the type of oven and its power, it can be higher or lower, so we recommend monitoring the empanadas so that they do not burn.
