Guacamole is the best and the easiest sauce to make. These guacamole mugs are very simple and a perfect way to serve guacamole at a party. Crispy mugs are made from wonton wrappers and quickly bake in a mini muffin tin. Then the cups are filled with guacamole and topped with a little crumbled Cotija cheese.

I recommend that you make your own guacamole with my family's favorite recipe. If you want to try some individual sized appetizers, my Mushroom Cheese Puffs and Chicken Enchiladas are always a hit.

GUACAMOLE

Guacamole is always a popular and quite healthy dip. My guacamole recipe is extremely popular with family and friends and is for good reason. It tastes amazing!

There are some flavor additions that I always make that carry my recipe over the top. In addition to adding vegetables to the avocado puree, I always make sure I have a good amount of fresh lime juice, fresh coriander, cumin, and chipotle chili powder.

I love the smoke that chipotle chili powder adds to guacamole, making it a must-have ingredient.

Vegetables can vary from time to time, but those four ingredients are always present. Sometimes I add jalapeƱos to kick the spice. JalapeƱo itself can be mild or spicy depending on the age of the pepper. Older jalapeƱos are spicier.

There are people who refuse to add onions and tomatoes to their guacamole, but I say "go ahead!" Add another layer of flavor to an already amazing sauce.

HOW TO SAY IF THE AVOCADO IS RIPE

My husband refuses to buy avocados for me because he says he can never tell which ones to buy. No matter how hard I try to teach you my avocado tricks, you just won't have it. It's probably because he doesn't eat avocados himself, but it really isn't that scary.

It comes down to 2 basil things to look for, color, and feel.

First off, don't even look at an avocado that is shiny or even medium green in color. (We are not talking about Florida avocados.) You are looking for dark green color with some wrinkles but not deep wrinkles. Deep wrinkles mean the avocado is probably overripe.

The next step is to pick the avocado and gently apply pressure to the palm of the hand. Do not press with your fingertips or you will damage the fruit. If they feel strong enough to seriously hurt someone if you threw them away, they are not even close to being mature.

A ripe avocado it yields when you gently press it. If it gives way too easily, the avocado is too ripe.

Extra tip: Years ago, my friend taught me another trick to check the ripeness of the avocado and that's look at the stem. The type of wrinkles around the stem and the color under the stem will help you determine if the avocado is ripe.

If there are hardly any wrinkles and the color is very light, the avocado is not yet ripe. If there are many deeper wrinkles and the color is dark and dull, the avocado is overripe. Those are the ones to avoid.

HOW TO KEEP GUACAMOLE BROWN BECOMING

My preferred method of preventing avocado from turning brown is Lime.

That's it, that's the big fat secret that will help prevent your sliced ā€‹ā€‹avocados and guacamole from turning brown. At least, that's the method that works best for me.

Once the avocado is cut, squeeze some lime juice from the lime onto the meat and rub it all over the place. This will prevent avocados from turning brown for several hours.

(If you have time, here is another trick you can do to keep the avocado from browning too quickly.)

When it comes to guacamole, there are a couple of steps you should follow. insurance fresh lime juice on top first.

The second step is to cover it with saran wrap by pressing the wrap directly onto the guacamole, inside the bowl. This will prevent air from directly hitting the surface of the guacamole and will keep it nice and green longer.

Preparation time 20 minutes

12 servings (makes 24 cups)

Calories 168 kcal

Ingredients

Guacamole:

  • 4 avocados
  • 1 medium tomato seed removed
  • 1 jalapeƱo
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 1 medium or large lime juice from that lime
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder more if you want a little more spice
  • Salt

Cups:

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 3 tablespoons crumbled Cotija cheese

Instructions

Wonton Mugs:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 Ā° and grease a 24-cup muffin tin with a little cooking spray.

  2. Gently place a wonton wrapper on each cup of buns in the pan to create small cups. Try pressing / folding the wrapping folds at the edge to get a more even cup.

  3. Bake for about 7 minutes, until golden brown. Take out of the oven. Let them cool enough so that you can remove the cups from the pan. Gently remove the glasses and let them cool to room temperature. That won't take long.

Guacamole:

  1. Cut the avocados in half, scoop out the avocado pulp in a bowl, and mash it with a fork.

  2. JalapeƱo seeds and minced meat. Finely chop the red onion and tomato. Add vegetables to the avocado.

  3. Squeeze the lime juice and add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, mix well. Test to see if you need more salt.

  4. Fill the nonsense cups with guacamole and sprinkle a little Cotija cheese on top.

  5. Note: You can use more lime juice (from another lime) to squeeze over the top of each cup to keep it from turning brown any longer.
