Ingredients list for General Tso Grilled Cauliflower

  • 4 cups of cauliflower flowers
  • 2 tablespoons of canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce (or coconut amino for paleo and gluten-free)

  • 4 to 6 dried red chili peppers, seedless and stemless
  • Chopped chives, roasted sesame seeds, for garnish

For the sauce

  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or coconut amino for paleo and gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 4 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Addresses

one) Preheat your grill. Place the cauliflower flowers in a large bowl with 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave for 5-7 minutes to precook. Let cool and transfer to a Ziplok bag.

two) Whisk canola oil, cornstarch, chili, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Pour over the top of the cauliflower into the plastic bag and stir well to cover. Marinate for 20 minutes.

3) Meanwhile, make the sauce: heat the sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the ginger and garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients (soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, vegetable stock, sriracha, cornstarch) and mix to combine. Bring to a low boil; simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

4)Remove cauliflower florets from bag and skewer skewers and grill until tender and golden brown. When the cauliflower is almost done, brush with the sauce and grill until lightly caramelized. Transfer to a serving plate and serve immediately garnished with toasted sesame seeds and chopped chive leaves and more sauce on the side. Enjoy!
