Delicious and fresh homemade sauce with roma tomatoes, onion and Serrano peppers.

Fresh homemade sauce served in a white bowl made with roma tomatoes, coriander, onion, serrano peppers, garlic and salt.

What better time of year to make some fresh salsa than now? As I mentioned earlier, my husband and I were fortunate to live in the heart of Mexico for a few months as part of an internship program. Mexican food has always been one of my favorites, and I loved getting to know "real" Mexican food while living there!

One important thing I learned about sauces is that using FRESH ingredients is the only way to go! Many ā€œrestaurant-styleā€ Mexican salsa recipes that circulate the Internet require canned tomatoes, tomato paste, or condiments. These recipes will not produce a truly fresh Mexican sauce!

Use real tomatoes and all natural ingredients and you will get the best results. I went to our local farmers market yesterday to grab fresh tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, coriander and garlic for this tasty sauce. Having a container of fresh sauce in the fridge makes me happy! šŸ™‚
