This flax and chocolate "superfood" smoothie is a breakfast we've made over and over for a few years. I love making smoothies in the morning for quick and healthy breakfasts and I usually ask my kids if they want a green smoothie or a "chocolate smoothie."

I love making this ā€œchocolate smoothieā€ for them because I can load it with good ingredients (even a handful of vegetables they don't notice!) And they think it tastes like candy. We also like to prepare it for a tasty snack.

Lately we've loved making this smoothie with Good Karma Flaxmilk! I discovered Good Karma products a few months ago and got hooked.

Your flax milk is so easy to pour into smoothies, oatmeal, cereal, or any other time you use dairy or almond milk. I've also been using it on pancakes, waffles, and baked goods and it works great.

Good Karma products are made with cold-pressed flaxseed oil, which is rich in Omega-3s. It is creamy and tastes delicious and neutral. Flax milk is also an excellent alternative to almond milk if you have a nut allergy. All Good Karma products do not contain gluten or major allergens.

I loved having flax milk to change my usual almond or coconut milk! I buy Flaxmilk at Sprouts or Whole Foods, but you can find their products across the country using the store locator on their website.

This flax and chocolate superfood smoothie is naturally sweetened with dates rich in banana and fiber. It also has plenty of almond butter (or sunflower seed butter if you want it to be nut-free) for a little extra protein.

I usually add a handful of kale or spinach because you can't even taste them. Everything mixes creamy, cold and delicious!

This recipe is enough for 1 or 2 people. I usually double it when I do it for my family. Enjoy!

  • 1 cup Good Karma Original Flaxmilk
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter or sunflower seed butter
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 4-5 dates, boneless
  • 1 small handful of kale or spinach, optional
  • 1 cup of ice

Recipe Notes

DO IT WITHOUT A NUT: Use sunflower seed butter instead of almond butter.
