The pretzel sticks are dipped in melted white chocolate and then garnished with red and blue mini M & Ms, sprinkles, and Pop Rocks! While you eat them, Pop Rocks make multiple mini explosions in your mouth.

You can order M&M reds and blues online, but I just bought a bag from the grocery store and we sorted the reds and blues. Brown, orange, yellow, and green became a snack as we sorted them.

I ordered Red and Blue Pop Rocks

, but I soon discovered that blue tends to turn green. šŸ™

If I had to do this again, I would just buy red Pop Rocks. You can probably find them at your local store, so you don't need to order a large box of them like I did.

You can melt white chocolate in a double boiler, small saucepan, or microwave. I almost always melt chocolate in a small All-Clad saucepan that has a very heavy bottom. I place it on one of the small burners on my gas stove, as low as possible and I have never burned chocolate this way. It is much easier than using a double grill. As long as you have a saucepan with a very thick and heavy bottom and the ability to light your burner on very low heat, you should be successful doing it this way. Just make sure to stir it every 30 seconds or so.

The firecracker pretzel rods are dipped in white chocolate and decorated with mini M & Ms, sparks, and Pop Rocks. Make a fun gift for July 4th!

  • 1 pack of pretzel sticks
  • 1 package melted white chocolate candy or white almond crust
  • mini M & Ms red and blue
  • red and blue sparks
  • 4 packs of red Pop Rocks
  • Line a baking sheet with wax paper.

  • Melting the caramel melts in a water bath or using the microwave.

  • Dip about 2/3 of a bar of pretzel in melted white chocolate. It may be easier to pour the chocolate into a tall cup to do this. If the chocolate starts to thicken too much, microwave it for 20 seconds.

  • Place on waxed paper. You will need the chocolate to settle a bit before the M & Ms stick together. Decorate with sparks, Pop Rocks and M & Ms.

  • Repeat with the remaining pretzel bars.

It can be placed in the refrigerator if you want the chocolate to settle quickly.
