How to buy shrimp?

  • Although you can buy fresh shrimp from your local grocery store, frozen shrimp works just as well.
  • If you buy frozen shrimp, remember to do so put it in the freezer before the shrimp have had time to thaw.
  • Shrimp come in different sizes from small for jumbo. Buy the appropriate size you need for your recipe.

  1. Defrost shrimp and pat completely dry. Cover the shrimp and remove the tail, optional.
  2. Preheat the oven and place a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Toss shrimp in salt, pepper and oil. Add to the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until opaque.

  • Great shrimp, bake 7-8 minutes
  • Extra large shrimp, bake 9-11 minutes
  • Jumbo shrimp, bake 12-15 minutes

NOTE: All ovens are different. You want to cook the shrimp right up until it turns pink and opaque. Cooking the shrimp gives it a rubbery and unpleasant taste.
