How to make unicorn sprinkle mix

If you can't find a mermaid or unicorn sprinkle mix in stores, you can easily make yours by combining 1 packet of jimmies and / or sprinkle without light green, light blue, and purple in a small bowl.

How to make Fondant Mermaid Tail Cupcake Toppers

What do you need:

Lightly powder your hands with cornstarch and knead the pink fondant until it becomes soft and pliable.

Using one of the brushes, dip it into the cornstarch and lightly cover the silicone mold.

Tear a tablespoon of fondant and press into the tail mold. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, then flip over the mold and carefully remove the fondant glue from the mold.

Once all the tails have been molded, spray the top of each tail with golden cake spray.

Let dry for about an hour.

TIP: You can also use colored melted chocolate to make your first mermaid cupcakes.

How to make mermaid frosting

What do you need:

Combine all ingredients in a stand mixer on medium speed. You can also use a hand mixer with a large non-slip bowl.

If your frosting still looks powdery or thick, add another tablespoon of thick whipped cream and continue mixing until stiff and creamy peaks are obtained.

Divide the frosting into two bowls.

Add 2-3 drops of pink gel food coloring to one bowl and 2-3 drops of blue gel food coloring to the second container. Mix each frosting until you have a brilliant pink and brilliant blue.

Take out the pink frosting in a plastic bag and the blue frosting in a second tube bag. For the pink frosting, you can simply cut out an opening in the pastry bag. For blue icing, we recommend a star tip.

To decorate your mermaid cupcakes:

Prepare the cupcakes according to the directions on the box (or using one of our gluten-free cupcake recipes).

When the cupcakes have cooled to room temperature, place a medium tablespoon of pink frosting on top of each cupcake.

Use a butter knife to spread the frosting on top of the cupcakes.

Dip the top of the cupcake into the mermaid sparks, allowing excess sparks to fall back into a bowl. Repeat as necessary until most of the frosting is covered in sparks.

Put a tablespoon of blue frosting on each cupcake, in the center. Gently press the fondant mermaid tail cupcake toppers into the frosting so they are secure.
