Who would have thought that making your own applesauce would be so easy? If you have a slow cooker then you are in luck and you can make this super good recipe for Crockpot Applesauce.
It's a lot of fun, and since apples are so cheap right now, it's budget-friendly.
You only need three ingredients:
- 10 pounds of apples
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of sugar
If that is all! Did you know it was so easy?

Now let me give you some advice …
Peeling 10 or 20 apples is exhausting …
or maybe I'm lazy …
but I hate it. I recommend that you get an apple peeler. Amazon has some for sale right now and they are worth the small investment. You can peel 10 or 20 apples in half the time with this thing, and cleaning them is a snap.
Doesn't it look amazing?
If you don't already have a clay pot, here are some good ones for sale. Most of my recipes are created in a 6-quart crock pot, but I love my 4-quart crock pot for small plates like this. Now if you work outside the home, I suggest you get a programmable cooker so you can cook it for the perfect amount of time.
Ok back to the recipe. 🙂
I can hardly call this a recipe because it is so easy, but I dare you to try it. I love it because you can use a handy potato masher or fork to mash it, but my kids like to throw it in my food processor to make it feel like store bought applesauce.
Now this makes an amazing after school snack. What child doesn't want to go home with a little applesauce (or what adult doesn't want to eat something as a snack?). Be sure to check out our after school snacks page for more frugal and fun ideas for children.
And this easy crockpot applesauce recipe. You can really puree applesauce in the crock pot with little work!

Author: Eat a penny
10 pound apples
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
Peel, core and chop the apples.
Place in clay pot with water.
Cook over low heat for 6 hours. Stir.
The apples should become a sauce while stirring. If you want a "less" thick sauce, place it in a food processor or blender.
Chill in the fridge. (I separated mine and froze in 2 containers)
This homemade applesauce is an amazing after-school snack!
