Chocolate Strawberries

Chocolate covered strawberries are super easy to make. We know that it is not rocket science or some extremely complicated recipe that we have to try many times. They are literally just chocolate dipped strawberries. But the trick is that you can't use any chocolate to make them because not all chocolates melt in the same way.

First, you will need some quality strawberries. I make sure to buy the really red ones where there isn't much white meat towards the leafy tip. That is usually a sign that the inside of the strawberry is not red. Look for a package that has large chunks of strawberries and most even size. You can buy the ones with stems or just the normal strawberries without stems. The ones with stems are generally priced a little higher, but trust me, the normal ones work well! So don't worry too much about it.

Step 1:

Rinse the strawberries in very cold water and dry them completely with a paper towel. Strawberries must be completely dry for the chocolate to stick to them. If the stems are too long, you can trim them to shorten them.

These strawberries should be dipped in high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. There are many cheaper melted chocolates, but trust me, some of them taste just like sugar mixed with flavoring.

The key is to get something of good quality. "Melt Chocolate" I like it Ghirardelli Chocolate Melting Wafers. There are other brands with melted chocolate that you can use. It is all a matter of your preference. I personally love the taste of Ghirardelli chocolate, and I use a semi sweet type. Some people also melt chocolate chips. I've tried them before, and they work, too. Chocolate chips will have a thicker consistency, so be sure to add a little coconut oil to the fries when you melt them to make it a little less thick. I also like to melt my chocolate in a double boiler instead of a microwave. Basically you put a little water in a bot and put a Pyrex container on top to melt the chocolate with hot water.

But if you decide to put the chocolate in the microwave, be sure to put it in the microwave. 30 second intervals until they melt completely.

If you are using white chocolate, opt for chocolate chips And I only buy melted white chocolate because many times my white chocolate chips didn't melt properly. I have tried many brands and there is always the possibility to take advantage of that. White chocolate is great for creating the lines you see on strawberries and you can also add oil-based food coloring to make different colors of chocolate to decorate.

No matter what chocolate you get, always get semi-sweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate because it can end up being too sweet!

Step 2:

When dipping the strawberries, be sure to let most of the chocolate run smoothly over the strawberry before placing it on parchment or wax paper. This reduces the chance that your strawberries will have an overflowing bottom.

It's an extra chocolate you don't need and it also makes strawberries look less attractive. But be sure to use parchment or wax paper to put them on.

Step 3

If you are making the striped strawberries, you should melt the white chocolate before this step. When you're ready to make the strips, place them in a disposable tubing bag, without the metal tip, and cut the tip toward the end to create a small opening. The larger the opening, the more chocolate will come out. So look to the right according to the thickness you want for the strips.

Create the stripes to your liking, and you can also create different strip colors using food coloring and white chocolate.

Stage 4:

Ingredients! The coverage options are endless. You can dip the chocolate covered strawberries in literally anything, or just sprinkle them on top instead of dipping them.

I used just a little bit of sparks on mine so my kids can enjoy them and be simple and cute.

NUTS: My favorites are roasted hazelnuts, almonds, and peanuts. But you can use any of your favorite nuts. Just be sure to sew them first.

SPRAY: Literally of any kind. I'm a fan of little sparks because they don't add too much sweetness to strawberries. You can buy any color according to the occasion.

CANDIES: You can crush your favorite hard candy like mint, for example, and use it over Christmas to make chocolate covered strawberries with mint. You can also use different colored sanding sugars to sprinkle on strawberries or even some confetti.

…… ..Or you can enjoy without added sugars and eat alone or with walnuts 🙂

Chocolate covered strawberries can be stored in an airtight container with a paper towel to reduce moisture. They will last 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but will eventually lose their contraction. If you're eating them the same day, I suggest leaving them uncovered at room temperature until you serve them, unless it's too hot.
