Dukkah Spice Mix, also known as the Egyptian Spice Mix, is probably my favorite spice mix in the entire Universe. Ok, those are some strong words, but I will say that when I came across this Dukkah Spice mix, I fell in love. This flavorful spice blend will also make you fall in love. This post may contain affiliate links, read my full disclosure here.
I found this spice mix when I ordered one of those kitchen kits at home where meals are delivered to your doorstep. I love those things! Anyway, this kit had a Dukkah spiced chicken recipe. What the hell is Dukkah, I thought and will I really be so brave to prove it? Oh well, here it goes, I thought. The kit came with a small package of the spice mix, chicken and sweet potatoes. There were some other ingredients but now I forget what they were.
I was ordered to cut my potatoes, add olive oil, and sprinkle with Dukkah spice seasoning. I was also ordered to add the same seasoning to the chicken. Strange, I thought, very strange. Why the hell would they tell me to add this seasoning to chicken and potatoes? It is a delicious fork !!!
After dinner that night, I rummaged in my kitchen looking for that little packet of spices. What the hell is in these things, I thought. It must have 40 ingredients! To my surprise, he only listed 5: almonds, coriander, cumin, sesame seeds, and salt. That's! I have to find these things, I thought.

So for weeks, I went looking for these things in stores and could never find them. Seriously, my local grocery stores are missing out on not storing this magical Dukkah spice blend. Then I realized, duh Tanya, you can do this at home … it has like 5 ingredients.
So I went to the global networks and found out how to do it. This is so good, don't be surprised if you get a jar from me for Christmas. Meanwhile, you can do it yourself.
So now I will share my recipe with you all. Oh, by the way, did I mention that all (most) of my recipes will also be on video? I love visual explanations and thought to give it a try. Feel free to leave me comments on whether you like the videos or not. Here are the recipe details:
First, take your ingredients:
Then, add your coriander seed (1/2 cup), sesame seeds (1/2 cup), cumin seeds (1/4 cup), and whole black pepper (1 tsp) to a skillet over medium-low heat and stir until you can smell the spices, about 5 minutes.
Once your nose is filled with the beautiful scent of spices, remove the seeds from the stove and add them to a food processor with 1 cup of whole roasted almonds and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Pulse to the ground.
And there you have it, Dukkah Egyptian Spice Mix. Sprinkle on any meat, fish, or vegetables you want.
Here is a photo of my fried chicken with the Dukkah spice seasoning. Looks delicious!
