Cheese bread is a family staple around here. This particular recipe is one of my favorites. With just 5 ingredients and very little preparation work involved, garlic cheese bread can be whipped in time for any gathering! It is a perfect delight or a small meal by itself! We also serve this when we make any type of pasta. This bread is perfect for grabbing that last bit of sauce to clean your plate at the end of a hearty meal.

Garlic Cheese Bread Recipe

Just look at all that glorious melted cheese! The flavors of garlic and cheese mix to form a perfectly delicious accompaniment! The crispy edge of the French bread is my favorite. I am known in my home for grabbing the final pieces before someone else can snatch them away. This garlic cheese bread recipe includes ingredients so simple you probably already have most of them. Will need:

  • Bread
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Parsley

If you want to dress the cheese bread, you can modify it with some additional ingredients. We like to change things around here 🙂

Parmesan: We like to mix our mozzarella cheese with some freshly grated Parmesan cheese, especially if we serve it with pasta.

Cheddar cheese: If you're looking for the melty ooey-gooey cheese look (and why you wouldn't), there is no limit to the amount of cheese you can add. Cheddar cheese is a great choice to add color and flavor to garlic cheese bread!

Garlic: Fresh minced garlic can really add a whole new level of flavor to this garlic cheese bread. Especially when mixed with butter.

Butter: Smooth, salt-free butter instead of oil mixed with fresh garlic is a great alternative! This will soak the bread and make the inside smooth and crisp on the outside, that's how it should be!

How to make garlic cheese bread

A friend of mine makes this recipe and uses some different types of cheese in addition to the mozzarella. If you like some mixed cheddar cheese, go for it. This is an adaptable lining. To make this recipe as shown, just follow a few simple steps.

  1. Start with a loaf of French bread and cut it in half, lengthwise. If you're in trouble and need garlic bread but don't have time to run to the store, this recipe will also work if you have leftovers (like hot dog breads or hamburger buns).
  2. Then, combine the garlic powder and olive oil. Mix well so that the flavor is consistent at all times.
  3. Place the French bread in a baking dish (cut side up) and brush the olive oil mixture on top.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes to get the crusty bread.
  5. Take the bread out of the oven and stack the cheese!
  6. Bake again for another 10 minutes (or until the cheese begins to bubble).
  7. Sprinkle with parsley, cut and enjoy.

We like to serve this with Marinara, Ranch, as an accompaniment to spaghetti and with my famous lasagna soup!

Ooey, gooey and garlicy, there's nothing better than this Country Cheese Garlic Bread.

American Cuisine Appetizer Course Preparation time 10 minutes Cook time 15 minutes Total time 25 minutes Servings 8 servings

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 to 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped parsley for garnish
  1. Preheat oven to 375 ° F.

  2. Cut the bread in half, lengthwise, dividing the top and bottom halves.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the oil and garlic powder until well blended. Brush the oil mixture on the cut side of each half. Place in a baking dish, cut up and bake for 10 minutes. Maintain oven temperature.

  4. Sprinkle the cheese generously on the bread. Return to the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes, until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.

  5. Sprinkle with parsley, if you use it, and cut before serving. Serve hot
