I don't know about you, but funnel cakes bring me so many sweet memories (pun). Summer nights, carnival games and special occasions with special people.

Traditionally, funnel cakes are great gluten bombs. That is why I am so excited to share this gluten free funnel cake recipe from my friend Jennifer on Sugar Spice and Glitter!

These gluten-free funnels are like the original: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, or top with a scoop of ice cream, whichever is more delicious!

I used cow's milk for my recipe because that's what I had on hand, but this recipe would also work with dairy-free milks for a lactose-free version.

Prepare the oil: Heat the oil in a large pot (we use a Dutch oven). This should take 4-5 minutes.

TIP: Try the "wood stick trick" to find out when the oil is ready to fry.

To make the funnel cakes: Hold the funnel and place your finger in the smallest opening in the funnel to block. Measure approximately half a cup of dough into the funnel and place it over the oil.

Quickly remove your finger and drizzle the dough in a free-form pattern to make the funnel cake. Be sure to leave gaps as the cake will swell slightly.

Let the funnel cake cook for about 1 minute before turning, and fry each side until golden.

Remove to a plate lined with paper towels and repeat with the remaining dough. (Take small pieces of funnel cake out of the oil to prevent burning.)
