My children order oatmeal almost every morning. Naturally sweetened with ripe bananas and filled with whole grain oats, you couldn't be happier to fulfill your request.

While you can certainly do this on the stove, I always do this in the microwave to avoid dirtying a pan. Then I remove half of my smallest and oldest kite from the largest bowl.

We often add frozen cranberries to cool down the oatmeal before serving, but fresh or berry-free berries are fine, too. Chopped nuts add great texture and healthier fats, but you'll also get them from flax seed meal.

  • 1 cup oatmeal (old-fashioned)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 large banana (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • chopped walnuts (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine. Microwave for 3 minutes and then stir once more before serving.
