Banana and caramel twists

  • 1 egg
  • 1 ripe banana puree
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups of flour with yeast
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup soft butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts optional


  1. Beat the egg with a fork and add to the banana puree.

  2. Mix in buttermilk.

  3. Add flour to form a slightly firm dough (add more milk if necessary).

  4. Roll the dough into a 25 x 30 cm rectangle.

  5. Combine the brown sugar and butter by hand and spread over the dough.

  6. Sprinkle with chopped pecan nuts if desired.

  7. Roll the dough lengthwise to make a sausage shape.

  8. Cut into 2 cm slices and place the cut side up and side by side in a greased round tin.

  9. Bake at 180 ┬░ C for about 30 minutes.
