  • 1 slice of provolone cheese (approximately 150 grams)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of smoked paprika
  • 1 handful of fried onion
  • 1 jet of extra virgin olive oil

To prepare our baked provolone cheese we start by preparing the homemade tomato sauce. So peel the onion, chop it finite and put it to sauté in a frying pan on the fire with a little olive oil. Next we peel the garlic, chop it and add it to the pan. Peel the tomatoes, remove the core and cut them into small pieces. We also put them in the pan.

Trick: If you have homemade tomato sauce prepared in advance you will have your Italian provolone recipe ready in a matter of minutes.

Add salt and smoked paprika and fry, stirring frequently, until the tomato is almost melted and the onion is transparent. Remove from the heat and pour into a clay dish or casserole that is suitable for the oven. Place the slice of provolone cheese on top.

Trick: Ideally, use a casserole the same size (or as close as possible) to the slice of cheese we have.

Put the provolone cheese in the oven preheated to 180 ºC and bake until it is melted and the tomato sauce begins to appear at the edges.
