Roasted broccoli recipe: ingredients

This oven roasted broccoli is made with just 6 ingredients (including salt and pepper)!

  • Broccoli florets. Trim the fresh broccoli and use the tapas (called florets) in this recipe. You can also use frozen broccoli florets with great results!
  • Olive oil. use high quality olive oil for the best flavor. You can also use infused olive oils (like this one olive oil and garlic) to add an extra depth of flavor! Actually any neutral oil works like avocado oil, canola oil, etc.
  • Garlic powder. Here I use garlic powder because it covers the broccoli and gives it a crispy texture. I don't recommend making substitutions!
  • Sea salt. Garlic salt can be used in place of sea salt for even more garlic flavor.
  • Peppers. My favorite is smoked paprika, but any variety works well!
  • Black pepper. Use freshly ground black pepper for the best flavor!

Add spice mix

Once the broccoli is evenly coated with olive oil, sprinkle the spice mixture over the broccoli. Stir until all the broccoli pieces are evenly covered. This could be a bit more challenging with frozen broccoli, so I recommend adding it in 3 separate stirring additions in between.

Be sure to stir gently, especially if you are using frozen broccoli, to avoid breaking broccoli!

Roasted broccoli

Roast broccoli at 450 degrees F for about 15 minutes, stirring once in half. Keep in mind that all ovens bake differently, so be sure to check broccoli around 7 minutes! Also, the size at which you cut the foils will affect the cook time (smaller foils = shorter cook time, larger foils = longer cook time). So keep that in mind!

Roast (if necessary)

Towards the end of cooking if the broccoli is not crispy as you would like, turn on the oven and bake for 1-2 minutes. I usually only need to do this occasionally when I use frozen broccoli!

Serve immediately

For a better flavor and texture, serve this baked broccoli fresh from the oven. Usually I find myself sneaking a bite while serving it to my family, because it's so delicious that I keep coming back for more. You could add a dash of lemon as you serve it for a citrus twist!
