Apple pie

Ingredients

  • 6 large cooked apples
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar * to taste

Cake shop

  • 2 cups of flour with yeast
  • 125g Lurpak unsalted butter *
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Method

  1. Peel and cut the apples in a medium saucepan with sugar and water.

  2. Bring to a boil and simmer until cooked. Drain and cool.

  3. Sift the flour into a bowl and add sugar and butter. Rub with your fingers until the mixture resembles crumbs.

  4. Add beaten egg and water.

  5. Roll out half of the mixture with a rolling pin and add flour as needed. Cover the bottom of the greased and floured cake pan with rolled dough, add apples and repeat with the rest of the dough on top.

  6. Cut around the edge of the cake pan with a knife and press the layers with a floured fork. Brush with a little milk and sprinkle with icing sugar.

  7. Bake at 180 ° C (forced 170 ° C fan) for approximately 45-60 minutes until golden.

Notes

You can roll out the rest of the dough and spread with jam, roll up and cook with the cake. This makes a good cut. Use butter or margarine.

For a quick fix, swap the homemade dough for 2 to 3 sheets of frozen sweet dough.

Editor's Note: We made our cake with a lattice top by cutting the dough into long strips and laying them horizontally and vertically. Carefully knit the puff strips one below the other in a basket weave pattern.
