Tired of the same salad as always? This apple maple and walnut salad is perfect for fall. Without lettuce, it's more like a nontraditional coleslaw made from julienned apples and a packet of finely grated cabbage.

You can use as many apples as you like, but I really like the way the acidity of Granny Smith apples tastes with the sweetness of maple syrup dressing.

In addition to apples and grated cabbage, this apple maple and walnut salad also includes gorgonzola cheese, chopped walnuts, and some dried cranberries,

It is a wonderful combination of flavors. I especially love the way apples taste with any type of blue cheese. Add some buttery nuts and I'm in heaven!

In addition to having great flavors, it is also a wonderfully crispy salad. I love to pair with chicken or some kind of pork.

Apple Maple Nut Salad is perfect for fall. Filled with apples, grated cabbage, blue cheese, and walnuts tossed in a maple vinaigrette.

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoonful of dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 (10 ounce) package finely grated cabbage
  • 3 large Granny Smith apples, julienned
  • 1/2 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • In a large bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, vegetable oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.

  • Add cabbage and apples. Mix to cover. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  • Before serving, add the Gorgonzola cheese, walnuts and raisins.
