Is anyone else very excited about fall? It is my favorite season. The colors, the weather, the smells, the clothes and the food!

With the beginning of school, my mind always jumps to think that it is already autumn. I think I'm even going to make my favorite pumpkin chocolate chip cookies this weekend.

This cinnamon applesauce bread is one of my favorite quick breads, especially at this time of year. This recipe rivals any delicious quick bread you find at Kneaders Bakery or even Great Harvest Bread Co. It's moist and smooth and will stay fresh on your counter for days, but I doubt it will last long.

I love the apple and cinnamon spice flavors and it's a total plus that is made with whole grains. It is perfect for breakfast, brunch, snack or dessert.

The BEST apple and cinnamon compote bread! Bakery style and made with whole grains. .wprm -cipe-rating .wprm-rating-star.wprm-rating-star-full svg * {fill: #fff} Course: Breakfast, Side Dish, Snack Cuisine: American Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 55 minutes Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes Servings: 10 people Calories: 287kcal

  • 1/2 cup oil (vegetable oil, canola oil, melted coconut oil, or melted butter)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch of salt optional and to taste

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cover the bottom of a 9X5 inch bread pan with parchment paper (I always like to do this to prevent bread from sticking to the bottom of the pan). Lightly oil the inside of the pan with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs, beating until smooth. Add applesauce, vanilla, and Greek yogurt and mix until well combined.
  • Add flours, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and stir just until combined, do not mix too much; some lumps are fine.
  • Pour the dough into the bread pan and spread in an even layer.
  • Bake for 45-55 minutes (ovens will vary for exact time) until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with only wet crumbs.
  • Remove from the oven. Gently run a knife down the side of the pan, then remove the bread from a wire rack to cool.
