Smoothie Freezer Packs in the freezer

30 packs of economic smoothie freezer

Smoothie freezer packs are so popular right now! You can order them by subscription or buy them in bundles at most stores. We have tried some and enjoyed some, but in the end they are SO expensive. So today we bring you the best of both worlds: a convenient and delicious breakfast shake that you can prepare to grab and go that WILL NOT break the bank.

Let's analyze the mathematics:

A month of smoothie subscriptions can cost you around $ 240! Yes, there is definitely a convenience factor, but if you make yours, you control the ingredients and the sweetness and it's MUCH more affordable. Our 30 days of smoothie packages came in a minuscule: $ 46.33! Or about $ 1.50 per shake! And we timed ourselves to make the smoothie packs and we can confidently say that it shouldn't take more than 1 hour, or less, to put them all together.

Smoothie Series Freezer Package

We wanted to use a shopping list by swapping ingredients as much as possible when putting these recipes together. We came up with 5 shakes that have their own flavor, while we still use some of the same ingredients. We have made a SHOPPING LIST which you can find below, as well as in the recipe notes.

It was also important that we keep the ingredients as common as possible so that they are easy to find. We have offered some recipe substitutions for ingredients that are less common, such as cocoa beans. And while we tend to like a sweeter smoothie, we know that some people would rather keep it as low as possible on sugar, so sweetness is optional for most (except cocoa, which we definitely feel needs to be countered). You can use maple syrup, honey, or stevia (use the amount suggested by your brand) to sweeten your smoothie.

Tips for making and using smoothie packs

  • Where should I buy? We recommend buying the fruit at a large store that offers organic frozen fruits, such as Costco or BJ, or a place like Trader’s Joes (this is where we buy some of our ingredients). Amazon Fresh also has great options for bulk fruit.
  • How do I make the Smoothie Freezer packages? Just put all the specified ingredients except milk in a plastic bag (or better yet, a reusable bag) and freeze until ready to use, up to a month.
  • Can you freeze a smoothie for later? We do not recommend mixing the smoothie too far in advance. Smoothies are best consumed immediately.
  • Do you have a little shake left? Pour any leftover smoothie into a popsicle pan and enjoy later as ice cream. Children love this! Although frozen smoothies are best consumed within a few days of preparation.
  • Items we love for smoothie packs:
    1. Reusable silicone bags
    2. High speed blender
    3. Bag opener (to fill your packages)
    4. Labels / Sharpies to label / date!

Addresses

To make frozen smoothie packs:

  1. For each individual smoothie flavor, put all of the components except the almond / coconut milk in a plastic bag and flatten them and remove the air from the bag. You can use a straw to suck in the air, just be careful not to do this if you are using any cocoa powder.
  2. Repeat this recipe for a total of 6 shakes per flavor. Place in the freezer until ready to use.

To mix smoothies:

  1. Combine all ingredients, including specified milk, in a high speed blender.
  2. Mix until creamy, adding additional almond milk if necessary.

Recipe Notes

  1. If mixed tropical fruit in your store has banana included, skip it and get 16 ounces of mango, 16 ounces of pineapple, and 16 ounces of strawberry.
  2. Freezer packs will last about a month. After a significant period of time of more than a month, the bananas start to turn brown. Then you know it's time to use them!
