During college, I used to order a smoothie from the campus smoothie bar almost every day. Like many people, I assumed they were healthy and good for losing weight.
Then I read the ingredients … and WOW! Some of those supposedly "healthy" shakes contained up to 800 calories each.
Lesson learned: all smoothies are do not created equal and definitely are do not All good for you!

The best way to find good shakes for weight loss or provide your body with many real nutritional benefits is to make them yourself. That way you will know exactly what is inside your glass!

How to use smoothies to lose weight
When I enjoy a smoothie, I do it instead of breakfast (all of these smoothies have plenty of nutritional goodness to provide energy to start the day) or as a healthy snack.
We try to include a variety of different shakes to suit a variety of eating styles and diets, from low calorie to high protein. All of the smoothie recipes listed may not work for you, but I hope you find plenty of inspiration!
For example, if you follow a low-calorie diet, the rich paleo shakes could eat a large part of your daily allowance. However, on a paleo diet you don't usually count calories, so it would be a perfect fit in that case.
The key is to find a smoothie that suits your specific dietary needs. I tried to make it easier for you by highlighting what each of the following smoothie recipes offers with the listed "key benefits".
